BLUES IN BRITAIN - March 2021

In the 1990s, the blues music scene in Britain was enjoying a boom.
During those ten years Tim Spencer turned his camera lens onto the performers who were keeping ‘the blues’ a much loved, greatly respected and highly influential musical tradition.
His photography was an excuse to make a voyage of discovery into that blues music genre - an exploration.
Many of the pictures he took appeared in ‘Blueprint’ - the official newsmagazine of The British Blues Connection.
EXPLORING THE BLUES 1990 - 2000” is a collection of more than 200 photographs taken during numerous festivals, concerts, photo calls and magazine interviews - not just in the UK.
Tim started with 35mm b/w film - which he processed and printed up in his own darkroom. Later on he added colour.
“I don’t claim to have captured the definitive photograph of any blues artist,” says Tim, “but, as a collection of distinctive images of that period, I like to think it is unique and worth sharing.”
Tim is now retired and lives in South East England where he writes and gardens.
