The Living Roof

a greenhouse diary

Once we had found the plot of land that we wanted and having discovered that it had an abandoned shell of a building already in place, we put in an offer and hired a surveyor to advise us of what was being offered to us. His report included images of what once was a Green Roof that had been largely removed leaving a mess of dead sedum blankets under tarpaulins, drainage matts blowing in the wind and scattered pebbles.

Only the North of the roof had any intact sedum blankets. The sun pipes along the East side of the roof needed replacing after their five years of neglect.
