The Living Roof

a greenhouse diary

02

With the edible Forest Garden established for a year it was decided to complete the roof covering in the hope that enough water run-off could still be collected. The inherited drainage mats are returned to the roof. Over this is spread a very thin layer of the special mix brown substrate. With luck enough rain will pass through and will drain into the gutter for collection. This different thickness of substrate will offer another environment for wildlife.
